Heron Preston Johnson (b. 1983, San Francisco, CA) is an American designer, artist, DJ, and proud father (“girl dad”) based in New York City.
He launched his eponymous label in 2004 from his San Francisco bedroom. Originally a visual curation of graphic t-shirts, the brand has evolved into a globally recognized clothing and lifestyle label celebrated for its authenticity, innovation, and urban aesthetic.
Heron’s philosophy is guided by three principles: authenticity, curiosity, and minimalism. Drawing inspiration from his African American heritage, skateboarding, urban life, and music, he creates designs that blend precision with cultural tension.
Rooted in functionality, his pieces are defined by clear codes, refined proportions, and bold graphics. Influenced by workwear and military design, Heron’s garments are practical, adaptable, and built to last—a wardrobe for real life that prioritizes longevity over spectacle.
He studied at Parsons School of Design (NYC + Paris), earning a B.B.A. in 2007. Heron was nominated for the CFDA Emerging Designer of the Year Award in 2019, and in 2022, his collaboration with the NYC Department of Sanitation was acquired by the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s permanent collection.
Heron Preston’s work is modern, direct, and unmistakably H.P.—functional, urban, and timeless.
